Setting up abandoned checkout notifications by third-party apps

Introduction

Depending on certain conditions, Shopify automatically sends different notifications to customers, merchants, and staff. For this case, we’ll focus on the abandoned checkout notifications.

As you can read here, this notification is automatically sent to the customer when they haven’t finished a purchase and contains the cart content.

How abandoned checkout links work with bundles

Both Simple Bundles and Infinite Options types will be shown as expected in Shopify’s default notification. For instance, in the GIF below, you can see that the notification identifies the customer’s selection, and if the merchant is using version 2.0, the bundle breaks down as it should.

Troubleshooting: why aren't customer selections appearing at checkout?

Some merchants have reported that the abandoned checkout notification doesn’t show the customers' selection. The issue has been raised only with the Klaviyo app. Nonetheless, it’s highly probable that it happens whenever a different platform/app manages the notification.

Viewing abandoned checkout links

You can check how the abandoned checkout link works on Shopify’s standard behavior by visiting Shopify’s dashboard > Orders > Abandoned checkouts

There, you can copy any of the links that were sent to customers and check how it looks in the checkout, which reflects how the bundles looks when a customers receives a abandoned checkout notification in the standard workflow.

The issue arises when a third-party app handles the notifications, for this specific case the abandoned cart email. Hence, it has to be covered on their end. So, if you face this issue, please contact the third-party app support team, as we can’t control or change how they handle the notifications.
