How to make variant images change when selecting options in Simple Bundles

This guide explains how variant image switching works for bundles and walks you through the steps needed to ensure product images update correctly as customers select different bundle variant options on your storefront.
Since variant image switching is handled by Shopify’s native variant system, your bundle must be configured in a way that allows Shopify to recognize variant selections. When set up correctly, Shopify can detect these changes and update product images accordingly as customers choose different options.
How to set up variant images in Shopify
- Go to Shopify Admin → Products and open your bundle product
- Scroll down to the Variants section and click on each variant to access the variant image settings
- Upload and assign a specific image to each variant option
- Save the changes
Each variant must have an image assigned in your Shopify admin. Shopify uses these variant-level images to recognize variant changes and update product images correctly when customers select different options.
Test in your product detail page
- Open the bundle product page
- Select different options (e.g., Whitening, Hydrating, Anti-aging)
Confirm:
- The main product image updates
- The correct variant image appears
- Add the bundle to the cart and proceed to checkout to confirm normal behavior
