Selling products exclusively through bundles on Simple Bundles v1.0 and v2.0
If you want a product to be sold only as part of a bundle, hide it from your storefront in Shopify while keeping it available for checkout. The safest way to do this is Shopify's Unlisted product status.
Recommended: set the product to Unlisted
- In Simple Bundles, open the bundle and click the product's name under Products to open it in Shopify.
- Under Status, select Unlisted.
- Make sure Online Store is still selected under Publishing.
- Click Save.
Unlisted products are hidden from search, collections, and recommendations, but they stay available for checkout. That means Simple Bundles can still break the bundle down into this product when a customer buys it.
Alternative: set the product to Draft
If Unlisted isn't available on your store, you can set the product's status to Draft instead. Keep Online Store selected as a sales channel. After you save, place a test order to confirm the bundle still adds to the cart and breaks down at checkout. See How to test your bundle before launching it.
Don't remove Online Store from the product's sales channels. In Simple Bundles 2.0, the bundle is broken down at checkout. Shopify checks that each product in the bundle can be sold on your online store, so if a product isn't published there, the bundle can show as sold out or fail to break down. What happens after purchase?
When a customer orders a bundle that contains a hidden product:
- The individual products are still added to the order.
- You'll see them listed in the order details in your Shopify admin, like any other order.
- Inventory and fulfillment work as normal.
