Why inventory resets to zero despite available stock and how to fix it
If you’ve already followed the guide to Automatically update bundle inventory and are still experiencing inventory issues, please review the points below that may apply to your situation:
- Parent Bundle and Items Stored at Different Locations
- Managing your Inventory with 3rd Party Apps
- Using Print-on-Demand (POD)
- Empty Bundles Created from Existing Products in the App
Parent bundle and items stored at different locations
If the stock location of your bundle is set to "Madrid Warehouse" but your items are stocked at both "Madrid Warehouse" and "C. Coimbra 2, 2 D", we recommend adding the "C. Coimbra 2, 2 D" location to your bundle as well.
In these cases, it’s important to configure the bundle product to be available at the same locations where your items are stocked. After making these adjustments, go to the app's settings and click Resync all Bundle Quantities to ensure that the inventory for both the bundle and its items is properly synced.

Managing your inventory with 3rd party app
Simple Bundles does not integrate with external inventory management app unless inventory for bundle components is updated directly in Shopify. For accurate inventory syncing, ensure that both the parent bundle SKU and all component SKUs are set to track inventory in Shopify. You can confirm this by exporting your bundles and reviewing the inventory_management column. For assistance, here’s a guide on bulk exporting your bundles to easily check and update your bundle inventory. Bulk exporting bundle data.
If you’re using multiple locations along with an app-based 3PL, you may notice that bundles suddenly appear out of stock, even though the component products still have available inventory.
This typically happens because, by default, Simple Bundles can’t sync inventory with app-managed locations. Some fulfillment apps create locations with the inventoryManagement flag set to true . When this flag is enabled, Shopify restricts inventory updates so that only the fulfillment app itself can manage inventory at that location. As a result, external apps like Simple Bundles are unable to update stock levels there.
You can find more details about this Shopify limitation here:https://shopify.dev/docs/api/admin-graphql/latest/objects/FulfillmentService#field-FulfillmentService.fields.inventoryManagement
If inventory isn’t updating at an app-managed location, it’s best to check with your fulfillment or 3PL app to see if they can enable external inventory updates on their side.
Using print-on-demand (POD)
You’ll need to either uncheck the Track Quantity setting for the parent bundle inventory in Shopify or enable the Continue Selling When Out of Stock option, as this is how inventory is managed with this software.
Empty bundles created from existing products in app
You are using an existing product with inventory as a bundle parent/product, but it appears to be empty in the app. To avoid this issue, please ensure that you do not use products with existing inventory when creating bundles.
