Cart Transform bundle line item properties in orders

Line item properties add extra details to each bundled item in an order, such as the parent bundle title, bundle group, bundle variant ID, and quantity.

How to enable the line item properties

  1. Go to the Simple Bundles app > Settings.
  2. Advanced settings > Cart transform bundle line item properties in orders.
  • Turn on to include these details in orders (default). This may be required for grouping bundle items in packing slips and confirmation emails, or for third-party apps handling order processing, fulfillment, or custom workflows. Customers will also see these details in their order summary.
  • Turn off to hide line item properties in orders.

Propagated line item properties

Cart Transform now supports configurable propagation of line-item attributes. Merchants can configure up to 3 custom line-item attribute names on the Cart Transform settings page. When a bundle in the cart carries a property with one of these names, its value is automatically copied onto every component line item when the bundle is broken down at checkout.

This is especially useful if you have a custom integration that sets line item attributes such as tax IDs, integration IDs, or other custom values on the parent bundle. With this setting, those same values will be propagated to each child item, ensuring your third-party apps or custom workflows receive consistent data across the parent and all of its components.

Note: Properties starting with an underscore (e.g. _tax_code) stay hidden from customers, even when propagated to component lines.

How to set up custom attribute propagation

  1. Go to the Simple Bundles app → Settings.
  2. Click Advanced settings.
  3. Scroll down to Cart transform and order editing fallbacks
  4. Under Propagated line item properties, enter up to 3 property names you'd like to propagate (e.g. _my_custom_property).
  5. Save your changes.

Once configured, any bundle in the cart carrying a property with one of these names will have that property's value copied onto every component line at checkout.

How are propagated properties displayed on order line items

Test order where custom values were successfully propagated from the bundle onto each individual component line.
