How to group product reviews for bundles and kits on V2.0
If your Shopify store sells bundles or kits (products made up of items you also sell individually) you can group reviews from the individual products and show them on the bundle’s product page. This gives your bundle more social proof and helps shoppers feel confident in their purchase.
This guide explains when and how grouping reviews works well, especially using Simple Bundles 2.0, and review apps like Junip and Okendo.
Why group reviews?
Grouping lets you sharing reviews up from individual products into a bundle you've created on your storefront. This is especially useful if:
- You collect more reviews on individual products (e.g. via post-purchase emails or fulfillment).
- You want the bundle product page to display one unified star rating and review feed.
When this works (and when it doesn’t)
✅ Review grouping works well when:
- You’re selling starter kits, gift sets, or multipacks with fixed or semi-fixed contents
- Your store uses Simple Bundles 2.0
- You use review apps like Junip or Okendo, which support review grouping through product associations
⚠️ When it may not be ideal
- Your bundles are built on the fly (e.g. Infinite options bundles, bundles with many options to mix and match)
- Your component products are virtual or not tracked in Shopify with real product/variant IDs
- You’re using Simple Bundles 1.0, which doesn’t preserve real SKU relationships
Checklist: Does your setup support grouped reviews?
Use this checklist to confirm if you're ready to set up grouped reviews using Junip or Okendo:
Shopify product setup
Requirement | Explanation |
---|---|
✅ Bundle is a standalone product | You’ve created a dedicated bundle product in Shopify, not just a variant or hidden product. |
✅ Components exist as real SKUs | Each item in the bundle is a real Shopify product with its own SKU. |
✅ Components used in fulfillment/upsells | These SKUs appear in orders or on other product pages and can collect their own reviews. |
✅ Bundle PDP shows the group rating | You want reviews from the child SKUs to be visible on the bundle product page. |
Summary
Grouping reviews helps boost credibility for bundled products by pulling in feedback from the individual components. If you're using Simple Bundles 2.0 with real SKUs and a compatible review app like Junip or Okendo, this setup can work well especially for kits, sets, or multipacks.
