Building fixed bundles, multipacks, and mix-and-match (infinite options) bundles

The simple bundle & infinite options bundle builder

On Simple Bundles, there are two bundle builders: Simple Bundles and Infinite Options bundles.

  • The Simple Bundles builder is recommended for bundles with a fixed set of products or limited bundle variants (does not exceed Shopify's 100 variant and 3 option limit).
  • The Infinite Options Bundles builder is recommended for bundles that exceed Shopify's 100 variant and 3 option limit or require more complex bundle offerings such as mix-and-match bundles.

Fixed bundles, multipacks, and mix-and-match bundles

You can create standard bundles, multipacks, and mix-and-match bundles using the Simple Bundle & Infinite Options Bundle builder. In this tutorial, we'll walk through an example for each bundle type.

  • Fixed: a bundle made from a predetermined set of products.
  • Multipack: a fixed bundle with more than one of the same products.
  • Mix-and-match /infinite options: a bundle made of interchangeable products.

Creating mix-and-match / infinite options bundles

You can build a mix-and-match bundle using the Simple Bundle or Infinite Options builder.

  • Use the Simple Bundle builder if your bundle has a fixed set of products or limited bundle variants (does not exceed Shopify's 100 variant and 3 option limit).
  • Use the Infinite Options builder if your bundle exceeds Shopify's 100 variant and 3 option limit or requires more complex bundle offerings.

Note: The Infinite Options bundle is available for all stores except those on the Shopify Starter plan. It requires adding an app embed or app block to product pages for customer bundle selections, which the Starter plan doesn't support due to its limited theme customization options.

Infinite options bundles currently don’t support dynamic pricing. This is because infinite options don't use Shopify's standard variants (like size or color), which are needed for adjusting prices dynamically. As a result, prices won't change based on different combinations.

In this tutorial, we'll walk through how to build a mix-and-match bundle using the two bundle builders.

To add the mix-and-match selector to your bundle product page, turn on the widget by selecting Open theme editor and turn on the Simple Bundles app widget. The selector will appear automatically on all product bundle pages created using the Infinite Options bundle builder.
