Managing bundle inventory for multiple locations

There are two ways to calculate bundle inventory for stores with multiple locations:
Pooled inventory method: The bundle inventory is determined by items available across all locations. This method pools inventory across all locations to fulfill bundle orders, providing flexibility and potentially reducing stockouts. In this method, bundles must be made available only in one location. The "Enable Location-based inventory method” setting in your preferences should be off
Location-based inventory method: The bundle inventory is determined by the bundle items available in each location. This means each location must have all the items needed to create a bundle, such that the bundle’s contents are all shipped together from the same location. However, it may limit the merchant’s ability to fulfill orders if a particular location runs out of stock. In this method, bundles are available in multiple locations. The "Enable Location-based inventory method” setting in your preferences should be on

Pooled inventory method

In the Pooled inventory method, bundle inventory is determined by bundle items available across all locations. This method pools inventory across all locations to fulfill bundle orders, providing flexibility and potentially reducing stockouts. To set up the Pooled inventory method:
  1. Go to Shopify and make sure the bundle product variant has "Track quantity" enabled and set up only in a single location.

  2. Ensure all items in the bundle also have "Track quantity" enabled and the correct quantities for all locations you wish to track.
  3. In your Simple Bundles preferences, turn on "Enable automatic inventory sync for bundle quantities" and turn off "Enable Location-based inventory method"

Simple Bundles 2.0

If you have migrated to Simple Bundles 2.0, you want to disable "Track quantity" on all of your bundles to use pooled inventory method to sync inventory. The inventory will not be adjusted by the Simple Bundles app. Instead the inventory will be checked based on the bundle contents during checkout on the Online Store Sales Channel.

Location-based inventory method

In the Location-based inventory method, bundle inventory is determined by items available in each location. This means each location must have all the items needed to create a bundle, such that the bundle’s contents are all shipped together from the same location. To set up the Location-based inventory method:

  1. Go to Shopify and make sure the bundle product variant has "Track quantity" enabled and set up in multiple locations.

  2. Ensure all items in the bundle also have "Track quantity" enabled and the correct quantities for all locations you wish to track.
  3. In your Simple Bundles preferences, turn on both "Enable automatic inventory sync for bundle quantities" and "Enable Location-based inventory method"

Note: Note: both methods require you to use Shopify’s native inventory management. Simple Bundles does not currently integrate with other third-party inventory management systems unless inventory is updated directly in Shopify for the bundle items.
