How to build an Infinite Options Bundle in Simple Bundles 2.0

This guide walks you through everything you need to know about creating an Infinite Options bundle in Simple Bundles 2.0, from setup and configuration to customization and advanced options.

For guidance on building an Infinite Options bundle using version 1.0, refer to: Bundle type: Infinite options bundle

Simple Bundle vs. Infinite Options Bundle

Simple Bundles offers two bundle builders, each suited for different use cases:

  • The Simple Bundle builder is recommended for bundles with a fixed set of products or limited variants that don't exceed Shopify's 2,048 variant and 3 option limits.
  • The Infinite Options bundle builder is recommended for bundles that exceed Shopify's variant and option limits, or require more complex offerings such as mix-and-match bundles.

You can find an example of a mix-and-match bundle in the demo store:

    1. A Typical Mix-and-match Using the Simple Bundle Builder
    2. A Typical Mix-and-match using the Infinite Options Builder

📝 Nested bundles are not supported for the Infinite Options bundle type and are blocked in the UI to reflect backend limitations.

⚠️ Avoid commas in option values. The app treats commas as separators, which can split a single value into multiple entries, causing display or inventory issues. Remove the comma or rename the option, then re-test the bundle to confirm it's working correctly.

How inventory works for Infinite Options bundles

Inventory for Infinite Options bundles works differently from other bundle types. The bundle's maximum available quantity is set on the parent bundle, while each dropdown reflects the lowest available quantity of that specific option and is automatically disabled when that option is out of stock.

Setting up the infinite options selectors on the product page

Since Infinite Options bundles don't use Shopify's native variants, you'll need to add the options selector widget to your product page. Follow the steps below based on your theme type.

Step 1: Enable Bundle Options Selector

Navigate to the Theme Editor or Customize option in your theme settings. Enable the bundle options selector within your app embed. Now you're ready to start selling your bundles! 🚀

If options aren't displayed after enabling, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Add app block for Online Store 2.0 themes

This step is suited for stores utilizing Online Store 2.0 themes that support adding blocks to product pages. Follow the detailed steps provided here. If your current theme doesn't support app block addition or it results in duplicated option displays, revert the changes made in Step 1 to remove the redundancy.

Step 3: Manual installation for Online Store 1.0 themes

If Steps 1 and 2 don't apply to your store's theme (typically Online Store 1.0 themes), manual installation of the options is necessary. Instructions for this process are available here.
